Enterprise for Young People
The problem of low rates of entrepreneurship identified within the strategy is being looked at by an action team as detailed within the Entrepreneurship section of this site.
A Group came together initially to look at opportunities for developing projects and proposals together for submission within Plymouth's LEGI Bid, however, it has been clear that continuing to meet and explore opportunities will be of benefit.
A specific group has therefore been formed to look at Enterprise for Young People with the aim of:
"Encouraging and supporting enterprise amongst young people".
Representatives from the following organisations are present on this group:
Plymouth Association of Secondary School Heads
Plymouth Learning & Work Partnership
Plymouth Chamber of Commerce/Plymouth Business Growth
Connexions
Enterprise Plymouth
Stonehouse Youthspace/Youth Enterprise Initiative
Plymouth City Council
Prince's Trust
South West Regional Development Agency
Tamar Science Park
Sector Group
This first meeting of this group took place in September 2006, chaired by Andrew Ashley of Enterprise Plymouth.
Action Plan
Terms of Reference have now been agreed, together with a 12 month programme of work that is complimentary to the 'Making Plymouth Great' entrepreneurship programme.
