The City Growth Strategy highlighted that Plymouth's rates of entrepreneurship/enterprise in VAT registrations and new registration rates was half that of the regional and national figure. A key priority is the need to stimulate higher rates of enterprise by encouraging and positively profiling and promoting entrepreneurship.
Sector Group
The Entrepreneurship Action Team has been formed to assess ways in which the profile of successful companies in Plymouth can be raised to inspire others.
The activities in this area include 'The Entrepreneurs Bootcamp', Plymouth Enterprise Week, the University of Plymouth's Big Ideas Challenge and Entrepreneurship Masterclass.

This group’s aims are:
To develop and promote entrepreneurship in Plymouth, and provide support through effective business networks, events and services to assist entrepreneurs and increase business start up and survival rates.
An action plan is in place which identifies 12 projects.
